Math Fair Animation

Making an animation with Adobe Flash Professional was a tedious process with many obstacles to overcome. Some actions were easy to execute, while others required some thought. Overall the process was interesting and in the end resulted in something that I'm proud of. Maybe some time in the future I'll revisit Flash and make something new.

Work done by myself and my partner Serena:

Flash Animated Face

This project was overall very taxing. I made the mistake of being a little too detailed in my face, and ended up focusing way too long on minor details. If I had more time, I could have added more faces and lengthened the clip. But overall this was a somewhat enjoyable experience.

My First Flash Animation

Making animations in Adobe Flash is very simple. Tools like the tween tool make creating smooth motions easier than Pivot Software. The whole process is quicker and simpler. And it results in better work.

Flash Drawing Tools

Adobe Flash is entertaining. Drawing on the computer is difficult with our only tool being the mouse, but the abundance of tools that you can use makes everything easier. My overall experience with it was positive. And I can say I would use it again.

Windows Movie Maker

This is the final product of my work in pivot animation. Though it's not the best, I'm actually proud of the work I was able to do. And though creating pivot animations is a very tedious process, I can say in the end that it was very entertaining. In all, I can say I enjoyed the process and the results that it created.

Pivot Free Runner

Pivot animations, though fun, are difficult and taxing to create. The intricate details that are required to make your work look realistic are difficult to achieve. And small mistakes can cause a chain reaction that can drastically mess up your work. But with the negatives of pivot animations comes the positives of being able to admire your work once it is complete.

History of Animation

Animation has come a long way from where it began. Past cartoon forms were in black in white with no sound and basic character structure. Today cartoon characters have a certain life within them from the detail and personality artists can create within them. One of the past inventions that shaped the path animation took to get where it is today is the phenakistoscope, a disk of sequential images spun to create a single image that appeared to move with a life of it's on. From then on, the technology and art used to create animations continued to grow and advance, creating the skillful work we know today.

An early example of a phenakistoscope that depicts a couple waltzing.
